Help grow our movement for environmental equity.

Before 2020, few environmental organizations had staff dedicated to working on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ). These green equity officers, often women and people of color, found themselves leading institutional change with few allies or resources to help them. In 2019 a small group of them began to meet and collaborate to share resources and peer support. They became the founding members of Oasis: A Green Equity Collective, which today has over 500 members who are forging DEIJ programs and strategies in the environmental sector. For these members, Oasis is a lifeline–a safe space for peer support, professional development, resources, and opportunities. 

Developing resources, trainings, and programs on DEIJ is difficult and time consuming. Oasis makes it possible for DEIJ practitioners to share resources and collaborate with each other so that they do not have to reinvent the wheel. 

As we know, we cannot rest on the accomplishments of past civil rights movements. Every generation needs to defend what was won and fight for continual progress With the current backlash against civil rights for women, people of color, immigrants, and sexual minorities, we need the support of organizations that support equity and justice more than ever.
